Loaf Actually is a microbakery operating out of a small kitchen space on Bearwood High Street. You can find us at 487 Bearwood Rd, where we are sharing space with the wonderful guys at RPM Analogue Audio Ltd. Our bakery operates primarily on a weekly pre-order system. This is how it works. 1. Place your order: Every week between Saturday and Tuesday, orders will be open via this website and you’ll be able to place an order for the upcoming week. When you check out, your order is recorded as an ‘Order Request’. 2. Confirmation and payment: Within 24hrs, by Tuesday at the latest, you will get an email directly from me to confirm your order and to send you a link to complete your payment. 3. Bake days: Once all orders are in and paid for, I will begin mixing, kneading, and baking, ready for orders to be shared with you on Thursdays and Fridays. Whilst I bake, orders will be closed to give me time to focus on your breads. Our primary collection location is our studio space at RPM on Thursdays and Fridays in the afternoons. Additionally, for customers located in Harborne/Queens Park area, I offer an option for delivery of your orders to your home on Thursday afternoons/early evening (this option is subject to order volume). When you place your order, please make sure you select the appropriate day and option for you, as orders are baked fresh across both days. If you have missed the week’s order cut-off, do feel free to drop in to the bakery on Thursdays or Fridays to check out any freshly baked extras we may still have available. This system is a work in progress and we will see how we get on as we go - if you face any challenges when placing your order, please do not hesitate to contact me!
Hello, and thank you for stopping by at Loaf Actually. My name is Jo, and this bakery has been a dream of mine for many years, and I am so excited to finally have the chance to bring it to life. I started baking nine years ago, when moving from Germany to the UK. At first, it was a way of bringing something familiar with me into the new place that would become my home. Soon, making bread and sharing it with friends, family, and neighbours became a consistent part of everyday life and a real source of joy. In spirit, Loaf Actually is inspired by the German bakeries I grew up with. These aren’t places for overly sophisticated treats, cakes, or pastries, but shops that are part of everyday routine, where we would pop into regularly to pick up our staple breads and rolls for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Somewhere that provides familiar, reliable products made with care. At Loaf Actually, there will be some sweet treats, and every once in a while, there will be seasonal specials and new flavours we will try out together. But at its core, my hope is to provide simple and familiar, well-made breads for you and your friends and family, to add a reliable staple to your lunch box or dinner table.
