About

Hi there! I’m Crystal, the heart and hands behind Cactus Sourdough Co., a small-batch cottage bakery nestled in Midland, Texas.

What started as a simple love for baking bread for my family quickly grew into a passion for the craft of sourdough — the slow, mindful process of creating something wholesome from just flour, water, and time. There’s something magical about watching dough come to life, about the way a good loaf can bring people together around a table. That magic is what inspired me to start Cactus Sourdough Co.

Here, every loaf, cookie, and treat is made completely from scratch in my home kitchen using high-quality ingredients and natural sourdough fermentation. I take pride in the slow process — hand mixing, shaping, and baking each batch to perfection. From crusty artisan loaves to soft, chewy cookies, everything I make is created with care, intention, and a whole lot of love.

My goal is simple: to share delicious, nourishing baked goods that remind you of home and celebrate the beauty of homemade food. Whether you’re picking up your favorite sourdough loaf, grabbing a dozen cookies for your family, or trying something new from the market stand, I want every bite to feel special.

When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll find me soaking up the simple joys of country life — spending time with my horses, tending to my chickens, collecting farm-fresh eggs, or curling up with a good book after a long bake day. That slower pace and connection to nature inspire the way I bake: grounded, intentional, and full of heart.

Thank you for being part of my journey and supporting this little bakery dream of mine. Every loaf shared, every cookie enjoyed, and every kind word helps keep Cactus Sourdough Co. growing — one bake at a time.

Why Choose Sourdough?

🌾Benefits of Sourdough: 🌾 ➖Improved digestion due to the long fermentation process which breaks down complex carbs into simple sugars making it easier to digest and decreases bloating. ➖Reduced glycemic index: Long fermentation process also lowers the glycemic index allowing for a slower rise in blood sugar making sourdough a better option for diabetics. ➖Prebiotic content: Sourdough bread contains prebiotics, which are non-digestible fibers that nourish beneficial bacteria in the gut. This can promote a healthy gut microbiome!
