Made from the natural yeast in Freshly ground whole wheat flour, Bread Rogers is wholesome just like his namesake. He produces bread with satisfyingly, mellow and somewhat earthy flavor.
All fruits have natural yeast growing on their skin. It’s common to use the yeast from grape skins or raisins for a sourdough starter. I wanted to try this method when I made Vincent van Dough - but I didn’t have any raisins! Instead, he started from the natural yeast on the skins of “Craisins” (dried cranberries). The results speak for itself. Van Dough makes sour, tangy, and even slightly fruity tasting dough. He’s by far our favorite starter to make pretzels because of his unique and bold flavor.
Made in Holland, Michigan! This starter is a mildly flavored starter excellent to use for flavored breads, sweet breads, and cookies. Makes a great gift too!
