My name is Kendall Pleasant and I am the owner/baker of this home baker. I started this business in 2023 when I was still in high school. I knew that I wanted to be a baker since I was young. In my family, baking is our way of coming together and it is taught to each generation. That being said, I grew up in the kitchen. I learned how to bake before I learned to walk. In high school, I was in the culinary program for 3 years and I graduated top of my class with my food handler and manager certifications, and I now have my allergy safety certification. (Pictures are in the gallery)
I am very familiar with make allergy friendly sweets since my mom has allergies. So I have spent years perfecting allergy friendly baked goods for her and now I would love to share all of my desserts with others to enjoy, and I hope I’ll help make your day just a little sweeter!
Why “The Lazy Baker”?
I get asked this a lot! My bakery is sloth-themed, and since sloths are known for being slow, sleepy, and “lazy,” the name felt like a perfect, cute fit.
But it also has a personal meaning. I was a competitive gymnast growing up, and when I was in gymnastics, my coach nicknamed me “Flash” (like the sloth from Zootopia) because I was always taking my time and never got in a rush. The name stuck, and gymnastics was a huge part of my life for 12 years.
After I had to retire due to an injury, I turned my focus to baking. It was my dream since I was a child to become a pastry chef. The sloth is a reminder of that chapter in my life and how it led me to where I am today.
Even now, I still go slow and steady, but that patience leads to delicious homemade treats!
Perfection takes a little time💖
