Yes — I avoid artificial food dyes and use plant-based or naturally derived coloring whenever color is needed. I love recreating nostalgic treats and do my best to color match your inspiration using natural dyes, while keeping ingredients thoughtful and intentional.
What does “free-from” mean?
“Free-from” refers to desserts made without certain ingredients, such as:
Gluten
Dairy
Eggs
Artificial dyes
These options are available when requested and are never free from flavor 🤍
Do you bake with regular flour?
Yes! I offer classic, from-scratch baked goods made with regular flour as well as free-from options. My goal is to make desserts that work for your family’s needs — whether that’s traditional or allergy-friendly.
Are all of your desserts gluten-free or allergy-free?
No — I make both classic and free-from desserts. If you need a specific accommodation, just let me know when ordering and I’ll guide you through the best option.
What brands do you use for dye-free coloring?
I use a curated mix of plant-based and naturally derived food color brands that align with my goal of avoiding artificial dyes while still creating beautiful, nostalgic desserts.
Brands I commonly use include:
PRSM Sugar Co
Color Kitchen
Supernatural
Nutricolor
ENCO Naturals (used when needed for specific designs)
Each brand offers different strengths depending on the color, application, and design needs.
Will dye-free colors look exactly like artificial colors?
Natural colors can behave differently, but my goal is always to match your inspiration thoughtfully and intentionally. I choose the best brand and method for each design to achieve the closest result possible without artificial dyes.
How do you handle gluten-free baking and cross-contamination?
Gluten-free orders are prepared with extra care and intentional separation. While my kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free facility, I take multiple steps to reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
For all gluten-free bakes, I use:
A separate, small oven used only for gluten-free items
Dedicated gluten-free ingredients, including separate containers for sugar, baking soda, baking powder, and other staples
A mixer used exclusively for gluten-free baking
King Arthur Gluten Free Flour for all gluten-free recipes
A thoroughly cleaned kitchen prior to gluten-free baking
Gluten-free orders are either baked on a separate day or before any regular (gluten-containing) orders
Finished gluten-free items are stored away and out of the kitchen if other baking is taking place
These practices help me prepare gluten-free desserts thoughtfully and responsibly.
