Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! At this time, I only offer Gluten-Free Sugar Cookies (custom or plain) and GF Oatmeal Drop Cookies. Pricing automatically includes individual packaging for each cookie.
I am a licensed Food Safety Handler through SafeServ. I also have friends and family with gluten intolerance and Celiacs, and thus understand the importance of preventing cross-contamination with other gluten products. Before each GF order, my entire work area in my personal kitchen is cleaned and sanitized to prevent contamination from other daily gluten products that might have been used. Regular cookie orders are not fulfilled when I'm baking/decorating GF orders, and all GF items are stored and kept separate from other bakery items.
Due to some restrictions tied to my Cottage Food License, and the nature of my products, I am currently not offering shipping.
I'm often asked how long the Decorated Sugar Cookies will keep and if they should be refrigerated. So let's break this down into the two different ways you can order them:
1) Cookies sealed individually:
If you ordered individual packaging for each cookie in your set, then they are secure from air and will remain fresh for weeks. No joke! I've tested this. The royal icing dries hard and creates a barrier that locks all the flavor and moisture into the cookie. You do not have to refrigerate your cookies. As a matter of fact, I recommend leaving them out at room temperature to guarantee no elements interfere with the designs. Of course, your cookies will freeze well too. Just place them in an airtight container, with parchment paper between each layer of decorated cookies, and place them in the freezer. They'll still taste great months later. To thaw, set your container out at room temperature, with the lid still ON. This will guarantee no condensation ever reaches those cookies and ruins your designs.
2) Cookies not sealed individually:
Everything above basically applies to these cookies as well, except that they are not initially sealed off from the air. Even still, they'll remain fresh for a couple weeks. Again, this is due to the royal icing creating a barrier that locks in all the goodness. But, I would recommend placing them in an airtight container, at room temperature, if you're needing them for an event that is more than one week out. Just personal preference on my part. No need to place them in the fridge. Any changes in temperature could create extra moisture that may cause the icing colors to bleed. And, we definitely don't want that!
We all know that last minute things come up! And as long as my calendar has availability, I'll be more than happy to bake up an order quickly for you. This does result in a Rush Order Fee though of 25%.
A custom cookie/cake order needed in less than 10 days is considered rush. For all other orders, less than 5 days notice is considered rush.
I am a licensed Cottage Food Home Baker. This is provided through the Georgia Department of Agriculture and requires specific water testing, food safety licensing, and county inspections to obtain. I renew my ServSafe (food safety) license every 5 years. So you can rest assured I stay up-to-date on safety protocols, including but not limited to preventing cross-contamination, which is very important when creating gluten-free items.
