About

From the Arctic to Your Table the Story of Polly Carter

Polly Carter's sourdough isn't just bread —it's a legacy born in the remote village of Nome, Alaska. Raised with the rhythms of Inupiaq subsistence living, Polly's childhood was defined by the seasons: ice fishing in the winter, berry picking in the summer, and the constant, comforting aroma of fresh sourdough.

A Heritage of Resourcefulness

In a place where supply barges arrived only twice a year, "store-bought" wasn't an option. Polly learned the art of sourdough from her mother, who was born in a tent outside Noorvik. Together, they turned simple flour, water, and salt into the essential nourishment that sustained their family through long Arctic winters. From those early "bake days" filled with giant sweet rolls to years spent pressure-canning fish and tanning hides, Polly developed a deep respect for food that nourishes both the body and the soul.

Honest, Wholesome Ingredients

Today, Polly carries that same spirit of resilience and tradition into every loaf she bakes. Her commitment to real food means:

• No Preservatives: Only ingredients you can actually pronounce.

• No Shortcuts: Hand-mixed and slow-fermented for authentic flavor.

• Time-Honored Techniques: Artisan methods passed down through generations.

"Baking is more than bread—it's legacy, tradition, and a gift shared from my table to

yours." - Polly Carter
