MINI BITES & CAKES is a licensed home-based atelier serving the Ottawa–Gatineau region. We are not a storefront bakery — all commissions are pre-ordered.
How do I begin an order?
Begin by selecting “Reserve Your Date” on our website. From there, you’ll complete a request form that allows us to review your details and confirm availability within 48 hours.
How do I secure my date?
All orders are subject to a 50% non-refundable deposit upon receipt to reserve your date — by 11:59 PM EST. Your date is officially secured once payment is received.
What payment methods do you accept?
All payments are accepted via Interac e-Transfer. Your invoice will include full details to complete your transfer securely.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Cancellations with at least 72 hours’ notice receive a dessert credit valid for 60 days. Rescheduling is subject to availability. Refunds are only offered if MINI BITES & CAKES must cancel due to unforeseen emergencies.
How far in advance should I order?
We recommend placing orders at least 14 days in advance for Signature cakes and 3+ weeks for larger or tiered cakes. Seasonal collections may sell out sooner, so we encourage booking early.
Do you accept rush orders?
Rush requests are subject to availability. A flat Rush Fee applies to all orders placed with fewer than 14 days’ notice.
Can I make changes once my order is booked?
All details must be confirmed before payment is made. Once payment is received, your order is locked in and changes cannot be accommodated.
How many guests does each cake serve?
Serving guides are included with each size option, but as a reference:
- Minnie — up to 8 servings
- Classic 6” — 10–16 servings
- Grande 8” — 20–24 servings
- Enchanted 10” — 36+ servings
Servings vary depending on portion size.
What’s the difference between 2, 3, and 4 layers?
Layer count refers to the number of cake layers stacked with filling in between. More layers create a taller, more dramatic presentation and allow for additional filling flavors.
What kind of buttercream do you use?
We only use Swiss Meringue buttercream. Cream cheese buttercream is used for select flavours (e.g., Red Velvet, Carrot Spice, CinnaSwirl).
Do you cater to specific cake styles or themes?
Yes! Our designs now reflect romantic florals, vintage-inspired details, soft pastels, timeless neutrals, and touches of red or black. While we welcome your vision, each cake will remain true to our dreamy, couture aesthetic.
Our work is rooted in seasonal collections and bespoke commissions, and while inspiration photos are always welcome, they are used for reference only. Every cake is a one-of-a-kind creation tailored to your story.
Can you replicate inspiration photos?
No — inspiration photos are for reference only. Each cake is a bespoke creation. This ensures your order is one-of-a-kind, designed exclusively for you.
Can you add fresh flowers or custom decorations?
Yes — fresh flowers, bows, pearls, and other details can be incorporated as accents. All add-ons are arranged in advance during your design consultation.
Do you offer cupcakes or treat boxes?

Do you offer delivery or shipping?
Midpoint Meet & Greet — A scheduled handoff at a mutually convenient location.
White-Glove Doorstep Delivery —
Your dessert arrives directly to your door, handled with care from our atelier to your hands.
*Cake shipping is not available at this time.
Do you rent cake stands or displays?
Not at this time, but we are happy to recommend local vendors for styled setups or coordinate with your Event Coordinator for your event.
How should I transport or store my cake?
Your cake will leave our atelier securely packaged and in perfect condition.
To preserve its beauty and flavour:
• Transport with care: Place your dessert on a flat surface in your vehicle (the floor is ideal), away from direct sunlight or heat.
• Keep cool: During warmer months, we highly recommend arriving in a cooled vehicle with the A/C directed toward the cake to protect the buttercream.
• Storage: Refrigerate your cake upon arrival. Before serving, allow it to rest at room temperature for 60–90 minutes so the buttercream softens and the cake layers settle into their signature silky texture.
Once your creation leaves our care, you become its guardian. We kindly ask that you follow these guidelines to ensure your edible couture is enjoyed at its best.n
Is Mini Bites & Cakes liable for damage after pickup/delivery?
Once the cake leaves our hands, we are not responsible for damage due to transport or improper storage. We will always provide care tips to help you keep it safe.
Do you offer wedding cakes?
Yes! Our wedding cakes are designed to be the centerpiece of your celebration. Wedding commissions require at least 3+ weeks’ notice and a consultation to refine design, flavors, and scale. A full proposal, including serving guide and investment breakdown, will be provided.
Do you accept large or corporate orders?
Absolutely. MINI BITES & CAKES offers bespoke commissions for corporate events, galas, and special occasions. These orders require extended lead time (minimum 3+ weeks) and include a personalized consultation to ensure your desserts align with your event vision.
