Las Palomas Sourdough isn’t just about bread. It’s about connection, healing, and honoring the memory of two little souls who left an everlasting mark on my heart. The name Las Palomas, meaning "the doves," was chosen because doves symbolize peace, love, and hope — qualities that have guided me through the journey of loss and, ultimately, creation. But beyond the bread and the name, this is a story of faith, of God’s love, of trusting in His plan, and of finding strength in family. Years ago, I experienced the heart-wrenching loss of my unborn twins. While nothing can truly fill the space they left behind, I found comfort and strength in my faith. I leaned into God during the darkest days, praying for peace and understanding. Through this, I realized that healing comes in many forms, and sometimes, it comes through acts of love and service to others. One of those acts became baking — specifically, making sourdough bread. It’s a process that requires patience, care, and time. Just like healing, the process isn’t rushed; it’s nurtured, allowed to rise, and shared with others. As a nurse, caring for people has always been my calling. I’ve spent my life looking after others, providing comfort in times of pain, and helping people heal. But after my loss, I felt God calling me to offer a different kind of care — a care that comes from the heart and can bring people together in a way that fosters deeper connection. Baking became my way of answering that call, expressing love and warmth through something tangible. Every loaf I baked felt like an offering, a way to share God's love with my community. Each loaf was a prayer, a small act of healing, and a reminder that we are never truly alone. I could never have taken this journey alone. My husband has been my steadfast support, encouraging me every step of the way. His belief in me has been a constant source of strength, and together, we’ve built this dream. His partnership and faith in what I’m doing have been just as essential to this journey as the bread itself. He’s the steady hand holding mine as I knead the dough, the one who picks up the pieces when I stumble, and the one who reminds me that our efforts can bring light to others. And then there are my children. I hope to inspire them with this story — that no matter the obstacles life may bring, we can always choose to rise. Just as I nurture and shape the dough, I want to nurture their hearts, teaching them that love, faith, and community are the greatest gifts we can share. Through this bread, I hope they’ll see the power of resilience and love, and know that no matter what, we can always rise again. The name Las Palomas was chosen with intention. Doves are symbols of peace, of new beginnings, and of unconditional love — values I hold close to my heart. In those quiet moments of prayer and reflection, I felt God’s peace surrounding me, and I knew that my bread had to reflect that. I want every loaf to be more than just food; I want it to be an experience, a way of bringing people together, of sharing a little bit of joy, and of honoring the beautiful connections we have with each other, as God intended. In every loaf of Las Palomas Sourdough, there is a piece of my story. There is the time, care, and dedication I put into each batch. There is the love I want to share with others, just as I’ve always tried to do in my nursing career. There is the faith that carried me through my loss and continues to sustain me. There is the support of my husband, who lifts me up, and there is the desire to inspire my children — teaching them that through faith, love, and perseverance, we can overcome anything. As you bite into a slice of Las Palomas Sourdough, know that it’s not just bread — it’s a reminder that through God’s love, patience, and community, we can heal, grow, and rise together. Thank you for being part of this journey and for allowing me to share a piece of my heart with you. John 6:35 🕊️ “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”
