All of our sourdough is made with simple ingredients and long fermentation for flavor and texture. Most loaves contain just flour, water, salt, and active sourdough starter, with specialty flavors including additional ingredients.
How do I place an order?
Orders can be placed directly through our ordering page. Once your order is approved, you’ll receive an invoice for payment.
Where are you located?
Hearth & Home is a home-based cottage bakery located in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.
How does pickup work?
All orders are porch pickup only. Your order will be placed on the pickup stand at your selected pickup time.
What payment methods do you accept?
Venmo is preferred, but a cash box is also available at pickup.
How should I store my sourdough?
For best freshness, store sourdough at room temperature in a bread bag, cloth bag, or wrapped in a towel. Avoid refrigerating, as it can dry the bread out faster.
Can I freeze sourdough?
Yes! Sourdough freezes very well. Slice before freezing for easy grab-and-toast convenience.
How long does sourdough stay fresh?
Most loaves are best enjoyed within 2–4 days, though they can last longer depending on storage. Toasting refreshes older slices beautifully.
Are your products organic?
Organic flour is available upon request for an additional charge on select items.
Is sourdough gluten-free?
No. While sourdough is naturally fermented and many people find it easier to digest, it is not gluten-free.
Do you offer extras or same-day items?
Sometimes! Extra loaves, muffins, and goodies may be available on the pickup stand or posted on social media for first come, first served purchase.
How do I know when orders open?
Follow Hearth & Home on Facebook for weekly order openings, new flavors, extras, and announcements.
What makes sourdough different from regular bread?
Traditional sourdough uses wild yeast and slow fermentation instead of commercial yeast, creating a deeper flavor, chewy texture, and naturally fermented loaf.
