Our sourdough starter is truly one-of-a-kind. It was created and nurtured right here in Northern Michigan... born from wild yeast cultivated off wildcrafted cherries, blueberries, and huckleberries, hand-picked miles from any town or city. That slow, careful fermentation gives our bread a creamy, complex character you won’t find in store-bought loaves. It’s the heart of what we call our Pure Michigan Bread. That starter gives our bread a signature depth and flavor that’s hard to explain, but easy to love.
