Elevate your baking with a hands on class that will teach you how to create a basic loaf of artisan sourdough bread! Class will last 2 to 2 1/2 hours, and will cover mixing dough, stretch and folds, bulk fermenting, shaping, cold retard, scoring, baking and taking care of your starter. Each step is not complicated, and soon you’ll be blessing your family with healthful, scrumptious bread!
As a special bonus, for this one class, I’ll teach you how to make your sourdough into a beautiful pumpkin!
Each participant will leave with a container that serves as a banneton, a bench scraper, a written recipe and instructions, plus a free loaf of dough for you to complete at home and a free jar of proven sourdough starter! We’ll also be sampling a loaf that bakes during the class. Participants will also have your own mentor as I will be available to answer your baking questions as you work on your own bread at home. We also have our own Facebook page for alumni where you can share your bakes and recipes, and ask questions!
Enjoy some of my Tiny Treats during class. Selections may include scones, cookies, fudge, or other treats!
This particular class differs from my regular Artisan class in that it will be held at Aspen Kitchens on N Nevada. I will be demonstrating some of their fabulous sourdough equipment that you can purchase right there in the store! We will also sample some of their exclusive infused olive oils to dip our bread in. At class you will be given a coupon good for 10% off items in this beautiful store! Space is limited to the first 6 who sign up and pay their deposit. Class will be Saturday, August 23rd at 5pm. Update: This class is now full. You can get on a waiting list in case someone can’t make it.

Game Changer!

“After several months of working with sourdough bread baking, and having frustrating inconsistent results - this class changed everything. It helped so much. Additionally, just being able to ask questions, get hands on, super helpful handouts, great teaching. We went home having learned so much, and with great goodies!”
Great Sourdough Class

“Even though I’ve been baking sourdough for a few months now, I was ‘self taught’ via YouTube and other social media methods, there is nothing like an on hands class. I throughly enjoyed and learned quite a bit about sourdough in Susan’s class taught on 24-May-2025 at Aspen Kitchens in the University Village Shopping Center. Susan is very knowledgeable and was able to help me understand what I could be doing differently to achieve better results. A definite bonus was the ability to sample a fresh baked loaf with wonderful olive oil and balsamic vinegar samples provided by Aspen Kitchens. Also a shout out to Aspen Kitchens, their shop is a gem and I would encourage you to stop in and peruse all of the fun and wonderful kitchen items they have.”
