Hi! I’m Rachel, the owner and baker behind Bake Me Pretty.

My sweet tooth started young—I took my very first baking class back in elementary school, then rediscovered my love of the whisk while home from winter break in college. Over the years, I’ve taken countless classes—from online courses to one-on-one sessions with professional bakers to hands-on workshops at the Institute of Culinary Education. Add in years of baking for fun, friends, and family, and here I am: completely self-taught and now living my dream.

In early 2024, I turned that “one day” dream into reality. I earned my Food Protection Manager certification and became a licensed Cottage Food Operator—meaning I’m permitted by NJ law to bake and sell directly from my home kitchen. Before this big shift (and before becoming a mom of two girls), I spent nearly 15 years working in mental health. But I knew it was time to follow my passion—and hopefully inspire my girls to do the same one day. In addition I now have my retail food license and a new exciting service, the Mobile Cake Bar!…Bake Me Pretty has so many exciting things planned!

I believe in balance—both in life and in food. My motto is “Life is short…eat the cake (or at least bake it).” I’m a summer fanatic, 80s music lover, and firm believer that desserts should be fun, delicious, and made for everyday enjoyment. Whether you’re treating yourself or surprising someone special, my goal is to bring joy through sweet treats that feel indulgent yet approachable.

Alongside food safety, I take taste and quality very seriously. Since NJ law prohibits certain ingredients like dairy and eggs in specific products—and knowing how common allergies are—I set out to perfect vegan cake and buttercream recipes. After plenty of testing (and tasting), I found ones so good that even die-hard dessert lovers are shocked they’re vegan.
