Bake Me Pretty

Hi, I’m Rachel, the baker behind Bake Me Pretty! My sweet tooth and love of baking started when I was very young. I took my first baking class while in elementary school and later rediscovered the love of the whisk while home from winter break in college.

I’m completely self-taught, and in early 2024, I finally turned my lifelong passion and dream into a career. I studied for and obtained the Food Protection Manager certification and became a licensed Cottage Food Operator. This means I’m permitted by NJ law to bake and operate out of my home kitchen. Prior to this huge shift and becoming a mom to two girls, I worked in mental health with children and families for nearly 15 years, but after taking a few years off I knew it was time to follow my dream, and to hopefully inspire my girls to one day do the same. I have always believed in having a healthy balance—both in life and with food. I live by the motto “Life is short…eat the cake…(or at least bake it”)

I’m a summer fanatic, 80s music lover, and firm believer that desserts should be fun, delicious, and made for everyday enjoyment. Whether you’re treating yourself or surprising someone special, my goal is to bring joy through sweet treats that feel indulgent yet approachable. Because life is all about moderation—eat your veggies, but never skip dessert!

Cottage Food Operators are licensed and preparing their baked goods all over the country, in every state and in 2021, NJ finally allowed its residents to apply for the opportunity to utilize and operate a home kitchen as well!

In addition to food safety, I take taste and quality just as seriously and with NJ having firm laws that prohibit the use of dairy or eggs, I sought out to taste test vegan cake and buttercream recipes until I found the perfect ones—I am so confident that you will neither notice nor miss the taste of dairy or eggs in my desserts!
