Hi! I’m Rachel, the owner and baker behind Bake Me Pretty.

My sweet tooth started pretty young—from watching my Russian grandmas make delicious cakes to absolutely loving my very first baking class in elementary school. Years later, I rediscovered my love of the whisk while home from winter break in college and honestly haven’t stopped baking since. Over the years, I’ve taken countless classes—from online courses to one-on-one sessions with professional bakers to hands-on workshops at the Institute of Culinary Education in NY. Add in years of baking for fun, friends, co-workers, neighbors and family, and here I am!

I started out as a licensed clinical social worker and worked in mental health with children and families for over 15 years. I ultimately shifted to the SAHM life after having our first daughter but the combo of having our second daughter along with the lockdown allowed me the time to really think about the next steps. My dream was always there since those college days but I never believed that I’d ever actually do it. In late 2023 and after many years of fantasizing and saying “one day”, I ultimately decided to go for it!

In early 2024, I got my Food Protection Manager certification and became a licensed Cottage Food Operator— I was finally allowed by NJ law to bake and sell directly from my home kitchen. I baked and sold and discovered so much love and support from new and loyal customers and community members.

In the Fall of 2025, I got my Retail Food License so that I could finally launch Bake Me Pretty’s Mobile Cake Bar, the area’s first interactive customizable cake experience, perfect for parties and celebrations and which has been so loved and a huge hit with kids and adults alike. I shifted baking in my home kitchen to a licensed commercial one in Bloomfield, which now allows me to bake at higher volume and expand my customer base.

Still wanting to kick it up a notch and take this even further, I most recently and proudly got my Wholesale Food License in early 2026! This means I can now officially sell directly to and partner with businesses, cafes, coffee shops, supermarkets and more! These past few years have been an amazing whirlwind which has allowed me to follow my heart and also the direction to where this small batch bakery biz is meant to be. It’s been a journey that I am loving being on, so happy I went for it and really excited to discover its direction.

I believe in balance—both in life and in food. I’m a summer girl, 80s music lover, and firm believer that desserts should be fun, delicious, and made for everyday enjoyment. Whether you’re treating yourself or surprising someone special, my goal is to bring joy through sweet treats that feel indulgent yet approachable.

Alongside food safety, I take taste and quality very seriously! Everything at Bake Me Pretty from our cakes to cookies, is always baked from scratch, with quality ingredients. Knowing how common allergies are and initially having ingredient restrictions, I set out to find and perfect the best cake and buttercream recipes without egg or dairy that would wow anyone. After plenty of testing (and tasting), I developed the most mouth watering recipes for cake, buttercream, cookies, brownies, muffins and more…ones so good that even my dairy-eating dessert lovers are shocked to find out they’re vegan.

I’m so happy to finally be doing what I love and have wanted to do most. I’m so happy you’re here following my journey and hope to see you and bake up something sweet for you soon!
