Standard flavors include vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet. Premium flavors include lemon, strawberry, Italian creme, and cookies and cream (upcharges apply due to cost of ingredients). If you have another flavor in mind or want a filling other than buttercream, just ask! I can probably make it happen 🙂
Do you make cake pops/cookies/pies?
No, I do not. I specialize in cakes and cupcakes. However, I can refer you to an amazing local cookie decorator!
Can you make allergy friendly/gluten free cakes?
Yes, but please note that as a cottage baker, I operate out of my home kitchen which is not allergen/gluten free.
Why should I buy a cake from you and not a cheaper Walmart cake?
This is a great question! Grocery store cakes are shipped to the store frozen and their icing can sit out on shelves for months before being used. Also, grocery store bakeries are fairly limited in customization options. Finally, many (not all) decorators at grocery store bakeries have little/no experience in decorating cakes and learn on the job. Cakes are cheaper because they are mass produced, and a huge portion of the cost is cut because cakes are not baked onsite (meaning no labor for mixing, baking, packaging, dishes, etc.)
When you order a cake from me, you will notice prices are higher than grocery stores. This is because you are getting a fresh cake with fresh icing, paying for an experienced (10+ years) decorator to create a custom piece of art for your event, and customization options are essentially limitless. I’m a one-lady show (with assistance from my awesome husband here and there 😉) making your cake from start to finish. Most importantly, you are supporting a small business and your money stays local!
Do you have a storefront?
No, I do not. I bake and decorate in my home under the Texas Cottage Law.
Do you deliver?
Yes, my delivery fee starts at $15 and goes up depending on distance. Delivery availability is limited. Delivery is REQUIRED for weddings. Pickup at my home in Ponder is free.
Do you cover your cakes in fondant or buttercream?
If your inspiration photo shows a cake covered in fondant, I will let you know and ask if you want the cake covered in fondant.
Otherwise, I normally cover cakes/decorate with buttercream and will use fondant for certain design elements if needed.
Can you make edible images?
Yes! An additional fee will apply.
Can you make custom cake toppers?
Most likely! Just show me what you have in mind!
How did you learn to decorate cakes?
I took interest in cake decorating after binge watching several seasons of Cake Boss during the winter break of my freshman year of college (2011).
Later, I’d go on to get a job at a Sam’s Club bakery baking rolls, breads, cookies, etc. Eventually I weaseled my way over to the cake decorating side and fell in love. I learned on the job.
From there, I worked at Nothing Bundt Cakes for a few months in 2015, and later at a full custom bakery in the metroplex in 2016. This is where I learned most of what I know.
I realized that working at a full blown bakery as a full time job just wasn’t for me, so I’ve been doing cakes on the side for friends and family ever since and fine tuning my skills.
Fun fact, I have met Buddy Valastro (THE Cake Boss!) and have an autographed spatula!
