My passion lies in the delightful world of sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls. This attraction began 65 years ago, watching my mother in the kitchen as she baked bread, yeast rolls, and those irresistible cinnamon rolls. Growing up on a farm with five sibling, plus Mom and Dad, meant that baking was a twice-weekly ritual. We were always blessed with the aroma of fresh bread filling the air, alongside the vegetables from our garden and the meat we raised ourselves. Ever since, I've been on a mission to recapture those aromas and flavors.
Sourdough bread holds a special fascination for me. The intricate relationship of chemistry, physics, and microbiology that transforms simple ingredients into a tangy, flavorful loaf through the magic of natural yeasts and bacteria is truly captivating.
Now retired, I enjoy working my garden and spending time with my wife, constant canine companions and chatting with my daughter in VA.. My baking continues three days a week, fulfilling orders that come in through richardstastybakes.com, selling at Gibsonville Market, and baking for family and friends.
The Gibsonville Market is place where you can obseeve (and sometimes even sample!) the diverse talents of local vendors.
