☀️ Tallow Sunscreen ☀️ This is a product I’m so excited about. If you’re like me I try to avoid putting chemicals on mine and my family’s skin. If you didn’t know sunscreen is full of chemicals that we then put on our skin (a sponge and the largest organ of our body) that absorbs everything and let it bake in the sun. Things like * Fragrance * Parabens * Propylene glycol * Methylisothiazolinone * Avobenzone * Otocrylene * Oxybenzone (which may appear on sunscreen labels as benzophenone-2, benzophenone-3, diosybenzone, mexenone, sulisobenzone, or sulisobenzone sodium). Oxybenzone is the most common ingredient used in sunscreen in the US and is a well known skin to cause allergic reactions after sun exposure. I make most of our own salves and body products for this reason or am otherwise very choosy about what I will buy. I have not found a natural sunscreen that I like and that I can afford to use on my family each time we go in the sun. We tend to use physical barriers like long sleeve swimsuits and hats until our skin has acclimated to the sun for the summer. However there are times like visiting the lake or beach that extra protection is necessary. Another tid bit about suncreen that most people don’t realize is that the higher the SPF doesn’t mean the better protection. It actually means the amount of time you can be in the sun before you’ll burn. Something with an SPF 15 blocks about 94% of UVB rays, an SPF 30 blocks 97% of UVB rays, and an SPF 45 blocks about 98% of rays. So basically anything higher is silly and only has added chemicals to make it last longer. 🕶️ Enter Tallow Sunscreen… Tallow: Our tallow is made with grass-fed beef from our farm raised from birth so we know everything these animals are exposed to throughout thier lives. Tallow contains vit A, D, E, & K and does not clog poors. It has a natural SPF of 4. Organic Coconut oil: Coconut oil contains SPF protection from the sun is full of antioxidants, antifungal, antiviral, antibacterial and reduces inflammation and adds waterproofing. Raw Cocoa butter: Cocoa butters is high in fatty acids, high in vitamins E, hydrating to the skin and creates a natural barrier from the sun. Carrot seed oil: Carrot seed oil has many benefits to the skin including vitamins, antioxidants, the ability to stimulate skin cell regeneration and protect it from damage as well as contains a compound oil called umbelliferone absorbs UVB light. Calendula infused oil: Infused by me personally and is very healing and soothing to the skin plus moisturizing. Non-nano Zinc Oxide: Zinc is the active ingredient that provides the most SPF and the non-nano zinc oxide contains larger particles to insure that it does not absorb into the skin but that it stays on the surface of the skin protecting you from getting burnt. Natural Beeswax: Beeswax holds all the other oils and ingredients together while also adding waterproofing protection.
