All the bread and baked goods at Melanie's CO Kitchen are made from fermented sourdough starter, with no added yeast.
How long is the sourdough fermented?
- every loaf of sourdough goes through a fermentation anywhere from 4-12 hours, followed by a cold proof of 12-24 hours, before it is baked.
- most of the sourdough baked goods we serve also have an extended fermentation time and/or cold fermentation prior to baking
Do you make organic bread?
All my sourdough products are made with organic unbleached flour.
What's the best way to store sourdough?
I find it best to store the bread unsliced in a brown paper bag (similar to what it comes in) at room temperature.
Can I refrigerate my sourdough?
It is best not to refrigerate fresh bread because it will likely cause it to stale faster.
What if I can't eat a whole loaf while it's still fresh?
Slicing and freezing will be your new best friend! Separate the slices by a small piece of parchment paper, freeze, and pull out a slice as you need it!
