As a home baker, I don't purchase my ingredients at wholesale pricing, I pay for my ingredients at the same prices you do. It can get costly, but most of all -- the time spent to make your cookies perfect for your occasion is complicated. You can't just whip icing on them and call it a day. You need to do a base of icing (flood), wait for it to dry until you put your design on top (designs also take numerous steps, including drying between each step so colors don't run together.) I also include each cookie to be bagged separately, and placed in a box to protect them. Believe it or not, my cookies are cheaper than other bakers! Decorated cookies are a 'luxury' type product. They are personable and pose as almost a decoration at a table. They aren't for everyone, and that's OKAY!
How big are your cookies?
Depending on the set of cookies you choose, I tend to stick to cookies that are about 4 inches. If there is a reason I need to use smaller cookie cutters, I try to throw in extra cookies.
Why can't I order cookies Tuesdays-Thursdays?
I work part-time at my main job, Mondays- Wednesdays, 2nd shift. I have 2 kiddos who keep me plenty busy as well! So I am usually only able to bake my cookies on the mornings I have work, and then spend my days off decorating the cookies. So orders are only available for pick-up Fridays-Mondays.
*Note: Although I bake and decorate my cookies in a timeframe that makes them fresh when I hand them over, my cookies can last a couple of weeks in an airtight container on the counter, so if you are in need of cookies for a date that is not available, then feel free to order a few days before if need be. 😊
