We do things the old-fashioned way, cherāslow, patient, and full of love. Our bread is naturally fermented using a home-grown starter and just four simple ingredients: flour, water, salt, and time. No shortcuts. No funny business. Just real bread, made right. All mixed with some healthy options for eating Cajun food!
š¾ Is your sourdough easier to digest?
For many folks, yes! Natural fermentation breaks down gluten and phytic acid before baking, which makes our bread gentler on your stomach. A lot of customers who canāt eat store-bought bread find they can enjoy ours just fine.
š°ļø Why does your bread take longer to make?
Because good things take time, baby. We let our dough ferment slowly (minimum of 18 hours) so it develops flavor, texture, and health benefits. Rushing bread is like rushing gumboāit just aināt right.
š¦ How should I store my sourdough?
Keep it on the counter in a bread bag or wrapped for a few days. For longer storage, keep it in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or slice it and freeze it. It toasts up just fine laterāpromise.
š„ How do I reheat my bread?
Sprinkle a little water on the crust and warm it in the oven at 350°F for about 5ā8 minutes. Itāll come back to life like magic.
š Do you make special flavors and seasonal items?
Yes, cher! We offer seasonal favorites like King Cakes, gumbo, bread pudding, and more. Follow us on Instagram to see whatās coming out of the oven next. Also, donāt be afraid to ask for special inclusions, if we can do it, weāre happy to!
š§ Is it true that itās healthy to eat butter on bread?
How people think of butter:
- Clogs arteries
- The thing we sensibly replaced with margarine
- A relic of less enlightened times
What butter actually is:
- A prime source of vitamins A, D, E, and K2
- The thing that feeds your gut lining
- Direct substrate for testosterone and hormone production
- Stable fat: doesn't oxidise, doesn't need a factory, doesn't produce aldehydes when heated
- High satiety: you naturally eat less at the next meal
- On human tables since we first kept cattle
- Delicious
The margarine that replaced it was industrially hydrogenated seed oil.
It caused the problems butter was blamed for.
We swapped the food for the substitute, watched chronic disease accelerate, and kept blaming the food.
Eat butter!
