Hey Friend,

Let’s get you started on making things you’ve always wanted to create. This is a crash course in sewing and I’m excited to share my tips and tricks to help you build confidence in a very satisfying and and lucrative skill. My past students have created businesses for themselves in shoe repair for sneakers, altering clothing to customizing it.

Our first project together will be creating something you’d like to make. We’ll get familiar with pattern and fabric selections on a mini field trip to a local fabric store. Here you’ll be able to learn which fabrics work with constructing your desired project.

Once you have selected your materials and notions, we’ll begin preparing your fabric to be cut and prepped for stitching.

Step by step we will execute stitching by hand and on the machine to complete your project and work together on challenges you may face along the way.

Keep in mind sewing is a fun and complex skill so it will have bumps here and there in the preliminary stage. Together, we will be working at a pace that’s comfortable for you to progress through and identify common techniques all while learning how to troubleshoot your project til completion.

There are some supplies youll need to get started. I’ll post them below. If you have a machine of your own make sure it’s been serviced, oiled and ready to go.

I’d highly recommend in investing in a basic machine, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Most basic sewing machines are $150-$200 new. Local pawn shops may have them for even less.

Sewing lessons will normally be on the weekends Saturday or Sunday unless requested on another day. Which would incur an additional fee. I start lessons from 11am-7pm. These lessons are for individuals but I can also do group lessons for multiple people. My hourly rate is $25.00 per hour. Please inquire for further details.

Once you’ve completed your project your welcome to start another one or advance to a more complex project. We’ll continue to work together on building your skill set and confidence to understand the ultimate satisfaction of sewing is knowing you have achieved completion with your own hands.
