There will be a delivery fee added for any deliveries beyond 5 miles from my home. - I will ask that you inspect the cake and cookies when you receive them and sign a copy of the invoice. Once the item is in your hands, Lauren’s Home Bakery will not be held liable for any damages. Please see the section labeled “Cake and Cookie Care” for information on how to store items.
Cakes- Cakes will need to be stored in the refrigerator until 2-3 hours prior to your event so they remain structurally sound. This is especially important with a tiered cake or a cake being served outdoors on a warmer day. Buttercream icing gets very soft in the heat and can melt and cause the cake to bulge or tilt, even just sitting out in a warm room! Tiered cakes will be supported by dowels and a board between each tier as well as one long dowel traveling through the entire cake. Please be aware of this as you cut and serve the cake! If you are not sure how to cut the cake, please reach out and I can give you some advice! Cookies - Each cookie will be individually heat sealed for freshness and put into a bakery box. I primarily use glaze icing for decorating. Please keep the cookies out of direct sunlight and away from high heat as they will soften and the icing could melt. The cookies will stay good about 2 weeks on the counter. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. To freeze, put the bagged cookies into an airtight container. When you are ready to serve, let them thaw completely in the container (I ususally wait 12 hours) before you open it. This will prevent condensation from collecting inside the cookie bags and damaging the cookies.
