Come one, come all! My name is Christopher Fields, and welcome to HoodCakes!

I actually started this small business as a revenge story for myself. I always knew I had a talent for baking—I’ve been baking since I was 14. When I was little, my goal in life was for someone in my family to ask me to bring my desserts to a family gathering. As you all know, when your family tells you to bring your signature dish, you already have somebody who loves it so much that they’re calling or texting you to remind you not to forget it. Having that was huge for me as a kid—it gave me a special feeling that I can’t even describe.

Now, back to the revenge story. When I used to work for Sprinkles Cupcakes as a froster, I thought everything was going well. They told me I was getting better and faster. However, they made up all these ridiculous things about me that weren’t accurate in the slightest, and they terminated me over a text message. I knew it was wrong because the manager didn’t respond to my texts or return my calls. It got even worse when I went back on Indeed to message them again and ask why I was let go—the person responding switched because they didn’t want to talk to me about it. Not only did they let me go for no reason, but they couldn’t even give me an explanation.

So I thought to myself: I know how to make cupcakes, and I know my cupcakes are better—and they’ll be less expensive too. That’s when I decided to open my first small business ever: HoodCakes.

Now I know what everybody is wondering: “Chris, why the name HoodCakes?” Well, in my opinion, people nowadays spend too much time worrying about the name of a place instead of just trying the food. A name shouldn’t matter. What matters is the presentation and the taste of the product—that’s what makes a business good, not the name.

I also wanted to challenge stereotypes. When you first hear the name HoodCakes, you might think, “Oh, this is ghetto,” or “I don’t like the name.” But I want to show that just because the name sounds a certain way doesn’t mean I act that way. People judge others all the time instead of loving one another. Life is too short to be mad—we all just need to laugh and be happy.

I tell people this all the time: What would you think if you saw a Black man walking down the street with chains, diamond teeth, and Jordans? You might assume he’s “ghetto” or think negatively. But what you don’t know is that he graduated from culinary school and is one of my top bakers—he just dresses like that because he’s comfortable. Clothing doesn’t define character.

Now, growing up, I had a very rough childhood. I’m a nerd at heart, I was bullied almost every day for over six years (I stopped keeping track). I was called names constantly and went through heartbreak from girls I cared about. It was hard being me. But somehow, someway, God made a way, and I’m following His path because I know He won’t steer me wrong.

I’m doing this business for myself, for my mom who passed away from breast cancer in 2016, and for the people who made my childhood miserable. I want them to see me now.

I need about two days for your order I usually get everything I need for the day then the next day I prepare it so the day after that you can pick it up I only do pickup no shipping or delivery.

If you wanna pay first before you get the order that's perfectly fine my cash app is $jockchrisfi5 or if you want to hand me cash in person on the day of your order that's perfectly fine as well. 😁

Every cupcake will be filled.

Once Im done with your order and you wanna order more it has to be the next day so I can be able to get the rest of the ingredients and get it to you for tomorrow my apologies in advance.

If you would like a single cupcake send me a text through Facebook i can’t do singles on here only dozens.

Once your order is completed I will take a picture and send it to you letting you know that your order is ready for pickup. 😁

I only do pre orders I have no cupcakes already made to order you would have to pre order them and pick a date 2 or more days from the day you have placed your order.
