The Baker Behind the Magic Hi, I’m Suzette Clear, the one-woman show behind Clearly Magic Bakery — a South Bay native who found her way to the kitchen through love, and never looked back. My husband Mark is a pastry chef who has worked at some of the most celebrated kitchens in Los Angeles — including the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel and the Waldorf Astoria. Watching him work taught me everything about the importance of quality ingredients and the craft behind truly exceptional baking. When I started creating my own recipes, he was right there with me, and that collaboration became the foundation of everything Clearly Magic is today. I brought my own background in writing to the kitchen too — and together we created something that goes beyond a beautiful cookie. Our reflection cookies are where his pastry expertise and my love of storytelling meet. But that’s a story for another page. We also happen to have a small flock of backyard hens whose fresh eggs find their way into every order. Proof that the best ingredients are sometimes right in your own backyard. I’m proud to be rooted in the South Bay and honored every time a neighbor chooses to celebrate with something made right here at home.

My Mission I live with EDS and ADHD, and I’ve learned that healing doesn’t always look big — sometimes it’s as small as a cookie. The world is chaotic right now. We’re all expected to keep up — buy the groceries, pay the bills, show up, and somehow still create meaningful moments with the people we love. That’s a lot. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, we lose ourselves a little. I can’t fix that. But I can slow it down — even just for an afternoon. Every kit I make is an invitation to put the chaos down and come back to yourself. To sit at the table with your kids and just be there. To laugh at the messy icing and the sprinkles on the floor. To remember that the small moments are actually the big ones. That’s the heart behind our Reflection Cookies too — our signature offering that pairs each gourmet cookie with a custom reflection card. A quote. A question. A moment to come back to yourself. It’s gentle shadow work disguised as dessert — an invitation to get curious about your inner world, one bite at a time. Because sometimes the most powerful thing you can do in a chaotic world is sit down, read something that sees you, and eat something made with love. I call it habit stacking with magic — pairing something ordinary, like an afternoon at home, with something that becomes a memory. I can’t bring world peace. Not yet, anyway. But I believe that when one person feels seen, slowed down, and reconnected — even briefly — it heals something small in this universe. And small things add up. ✨ These are more than just cookies. A Note About Clearly Magic Bakery Clearly Magic Bakery is a small, intentional home bakery run by one person living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) — a connective tissue disorder that affects energy, mobility, and recovery. Because of this, I bake in small batches, accept limited orders, and offer specific pickup windows. This isn’t a limitation — it’s how I protect the quality of every single order and show up consistently for my community. Every kit that leaves my kitchen has my full attention and care.
